Coach dives into pool to save US Athlete after she fainted during World Championships (Photos)

Coach Andrea Fuentes was a hero during the World Championship on Wednesday as she dived into the pool to save US swimmer, Anita Alvarez as she fainted during her swimming challenge.

Alvarez was sinking to the bottom of the pool after her challenge and coach Fuentes, who was a four time Olympic medalist herself, dived into the pool to save her.

After successfully getting Alvarez to the top, and performed CPR before paramedics arrived and she was taken away for major medical treatments.

It was quite a scare as the athlete has actually fainted in a pool before and was saved by her coach.

The coach in a statement, said :

“Anita is much better, she is already at her best. It was a good scare, to be honest.

“I jumped into the water again because I saw that no one, no lifeguard, was jumping in. I got a little scared because she wasn’t breathing, but now she’s fine. She has to rest.”
