Police officer arrested for allegedly killing trailer driver over alleged ‘N3000 bribe’ in Benue (Video)

On 27th of June the Benue state police command reportedly arrested one sergeant James for killing a truck driver over a N3000 bribe.

Reporting the issue, eyewitness narrated that the driver was halted at a road block along kastina-ala Road and asked for a N3000 fee.

The driver couldn’t afford that much but gave N1500 instead.

An argument followed and the driver met his untimely death after the police officer shot him dead.

Speaking further, police spokesman revealed :

“He decided to engage in an altercation with Mr Aondohumba Terkula (the deceased) which led to the loss of his life. The corpse has been deposited at General Hospital, Kastina-Ala,” the statement read.

“While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP. Wale Abass has condemned the unprofessional conduct of the officer involved and ordered that further investigation be carried out.

“He assured the good people of the state that justice will be served as the disciplinary procedure has commenced for onward prosecution.”
