PSG footballer, Idrissa Gueye boycotts match after refusing to wear LGBT Rainbow jersey to join fight against homophobia

Senegalese footballer, Idris Gueye who plays for French champions, Paris St Germain has reportedly boycotted a match because he didn’t want to wear the customized LGBTQ+ Jersey in fight against Homophobia.

PSG played Montpellier on saturday, May 14 donning a special version of their white away kit.

Instead of the usual blue colours, the numbers on the back of the jersey was rainbow colored to show support for the forthcoming International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, on Tuesday, May 17.

Gueye, travelled with the squad but missed the game due to unknown reasons which his coach, Mauricio Pochetino labeled, ‘personal’.

Idrissa made the trip to Montpellier, but for personal reasons he had to leave the match sheet. But he was not injured,” Mauricio said after PSG won 4-0.

Gueye is a devoted Muslim and his religion is against homophobia, which is why he had to boycott the game.
